What is CBD? (Cannabidiol)?

Updated: Apr 14, 2021

CBD is derived from the Cannabis Plant. Cannabis is the same plant as Marijuana and Hemp. CBD and THC are two of the dozens of Cannabinoids found in the plant. The only difference is a legal definition. Hemp is defined as Cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Marijuana contains more than 0.3% THC and usually contains much higher amounts, up to over 30% THC. THC is the Psychoactive component of cannabis and, as a result, CBD is Non Psychoactive.

How to Use CBD:

CBD oils are best taken under the tongue so they are absorbed quickly, but can also be added to any food or drink. Start with a small dosage (a few drops, once or twice a day) and increase slowly until you reach

your desired effect. Your ideal dosage depends on man y factors, like weight, body chemistry, the condition you’re treating, and the concentration of CBD. We suggest starting with the 1000 mg Broad Spectrum version, or the 1000 mg THC Free version. Visit our site for pet dosage guidelines.

CBD (esp. Lavender) can also be used topically to ease muscle and joint pain, as well as an aid to heal wounds. Smokable Hemp Flower delivers the benefits of CBD and works a bit faster than ingesting oil.

CBD for Pets:

CBD has been anecdotally proven to be just as effective for animals. In fact, all mammals have a built-in endocannabinoid system and – as most of us love our furry companions – we want to give them the best possible care and nutritional products. As you might imagine, many people are increasing the quality of their pets’ lives by incorporating CBD into their daily routine.

To begin your Pets’ CBD program, we recommend that you start with 1 mg per every 10 pounds your pet weighs. That is approximately 1 drop out of the dropper, and it can be given directly to your pet, or mixed in with food or water. This starter dosage can be given 1-2 times per day, and you should maintain this dosage for a couple weeks to judge your pet’s reaction to the CBD regimen.
